Live like Sweet Magnolias

Pour It Out with Maddie, Dana Sue, and Helen

Live Like the Sweet Magnolias

How to Dress, Celebrate, and Read pour it out Like

Maddie, Dana Sue, and Helen

Living like my favorite TV shows started as a moment of whimsy and is now a year-long commitment to adding more fun to my life. The Sweet Magnolias really had me thinking about small moments: laughing with my friends, putting on a pretty dress, curling up with a drink and a good book- all the things that transform an ordinary day into a wonderful one. I encourage you to think about the small things and what little Serenity moment you could add to your day.

Remember, this isn’t meant to be a full, life transformation! You do not have to buy tons of products to make life look like exactly it does on your screen. Rather, it’s using small ways and small choices to add a little something fun and memorable to everyday life.

“You don’t have to be perfect to catch your dreams.”-Kyle

Let’s dive into Sweet Magnolias month!

Serenity Book Club

Read Like a Sweet Magnolia

While Gilmore Girls may hold the title for most literary references in one show, Sweet Magnolias has wonderful literary references and a few episodes about the power of books! One of my favorites is Episode Sn 2 Ep 10 ‘If thou wilt, remember’, titled for Christina Rosetti’s poem of the same name that’s read aloud during the celebration of life for Ms. Francis. Guests are also invited to take home one of her books to remember her by and donate to the Free Little Library set up at The Corner Spa. Ready for Serenity book club? Download the reading lists below to discover all the titles mentioned in the show.

*I’m working on adding Season 4 and 5 books to the list

Also, take a moment to locate a Free Little Library near you where you can take a book and share a book!

Shopping trip to Wally’s:

Dressing Like Maddie, Helen, and Dana Sue

I took a break from my clothing rental service, which gave me the opportunity to shop my own closet! Lots of flowy dresses for Maddie. However, I definitely would love to add some of these outfits inspired by Helen and Dana Sue to my closet.

Sweet Magnolias Music

The first place to start: a Sweet Magnolias playlist. I admit, this wasn’t my favorite group of songs, but it was good to switch up my usual music routine. T

However, when I heard Sara Bareilles’s Manhattan song in Season 5, I was so excited because she’s one of my favorites. Cue the Sara Bareilles album marathon! Start here.

The complete Season 5 Soundtrack is linked here.

Pour it out: Margarita Night

An episode of Sweet Magnolias wouldn’t be complete without the ladies gathering for a Margarita Night! Of course, I had to do the same with my friends. I set out chips and dip, we made Strawberry Key Lime Margaritas, and laughed the night away. I’m now certain that every week would be better if we all took the time to “Pour it Out”.

While it’s always best to Pour It Out with friends, there were a few nights when I made myself a little margarita and watched the new season of Sweet Magnolias. Having a theme drink just made it more fun!

While my friends had true Margaritas, I made a special non-alcoholic mix for myself by adding this mix to a lemon-line soda and it was delicious. See, you can even do this Sweet Magnolias tradition with your Mini-Magnolias!
